Dendriet is a network of musicians in The Hague (.nl) that perform with networked electronic and acoustic instruments. The word dendriet, or dendrite, is also the name for the receptors of a nervecell. Dendrites are typically branching branches. You'll find these fractal shapes in ice, in metal chrystals in limestone, and likewise, in our performance setups. Please do check out our homepage by clicking the stone. You too are invited to join the discussions.

Zuidwal saxophone concert
Tuesday the 28th of august, Jack Wright is playing in the Zuidwal, den haag. (Notice Léon's equipment is still their logo :-) . ) Here are photo's and a recording of an earlier gig they did.
Anybody care to join me? The start off hysterically late (22.30) but I have the day off after that.

Tatjana van Vark
Check out this women's outragiously well crafted work! Leon and I could build our resistance to sounddata convertor into his joystick. Her radio with this rather extraordinaire opamp is also very well built. But this is her masterpiece in idea, functionality and craftmanship: a mechanical fourier analizer.
Her Webmaster, Sam Shuy Zen, makes sweet collage music, and has interesting views on quadrophony, patch storage and more, it's a site to hang out on for a long while.

Bit by bit
I guess I have to learn to program in C, as I want to alter sounds on the bitlevel, or at least timeframes that are shorter then a 20KHz period. Here's a long term wish: Markov chaining with soundbytes!
Here's Markov on the wordlevel. (Nick Didkovsky is an old friend of Joel Ryan).
For a Markov chain, you pick a random word from a text, look randomly in the text for that word. The word in the text next to the one you were looking for is added to the chain, and it is the next word to look for in the text. repeat.
This produces sheer comprehencible text, which is statistically similar to the input. I imagine a sound that, when markoved, is statistically familiar, but pitchwise messy.

Analog Days
Right now I'm on the doorstep to a new analog age. I'll be picking up the first parts of my new Doepfer a100 system tomorrow (or actually today). To sort of get in the mood I joined the a100 users group. The biggest subject on the list for the past couple of days has been the Buchla series 200e. I advice you people not to look at the pricelist there! But look at the innovative approach to modular analog synthesis (and the flashy design)!!
