Dendriet is a network of musicians in The Hague (.nl) that perform with networked electronic and acoustic instruments. The word dendriet, or dendrite, is also the name for the receptors of a nervecell. Dendrites are typically branching branches. You'll find these fractal shapes in ice, in metal chrystals in limestone, and likewise, in our performance setups. Please do check out our homepage by clicking the stone. You too are invited to join the discussions.

Kelly Dobson, A pitch following Blender

Kelly Dobson made a nice pitchfollowing blender that has a nice influence on her. From her drawing, suspect she's using MaxMSP (take a look at the partnumbers on the IC's.) Which makes sense, as pitchtracking is fairly hard to do. She writes the voicing should be blender-like. If she is indeed using principal components analysis like here drawing suggests, then that makes sense. This type of analysis means she's looking for overtone series, and the more you growl, the more energy is in those overtones. Also, she might have filtered off the low frequencies in order to stop the blender's own sound from feeding back into the analysis. Interesting!
